Make every image on your site lighter.
WP Compress shrinks the images on your WordPress site, adds WebP and AVIF copies that browsers prefer, and keeps each original so you can restore it in one click.
Free plan: 20 MB a month, no card needed.

Measured with our optimizer on four test images. Browsers that cannot read AVIF get the optimized original. Your results will differ.
From install to a lighter library in three steps.
Connect your site
Install the plugin, paste your API key from the dashboard, and choose which image sizes to compress.
Compress
New uploads compress as they arrive. Run the bulk tool for the rest of the library, and pause or resume it whenever you like.
Restore if you change your mind
Every original is kept. Restore one image from the Media Library, or the whole batch from the command line.
Built for the way WordPress works.
Modern formats, safe fallback
WebP and AVIF copies sit beside each image. Browsers that support them get the smaller file. Every other browser gets the original.
Bulk, with a pause button
The bulk tool works through the library in the background. Pause, resume or cancel at any point, and it picks up where it stopped.
Choose what gets compressed
Exclude folders or file types, set a maximum file size, and pick which WordPress sizes to compress, such as thumbnails or full size only.
Multisite and WP-CLI
Network-wide settings, one quota across your sites, and commands for status, optimize, restore and bulk runs.
Usage you can see
The dashboard shows what you have used, what each job did, and why a failed image failed. Failed jobs release their quota.
What we don't do yet.
- We don't resize images yet. Compression keeps your image dimensions.
- We don't serve images from a CDN. Files stay on your own host.
- We don't lazy-load images. Keep using your existing plugin for that.
- WebP and AVIF copies replace
<img>tags, not CSS background images. - We haven't tested every WooCommerce setup yet. Product images use the same pipeline as your media library.
Pay for the images you compress.
| Plan | Price | Quota | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0/month | 20 MB a month | About 200 images. WebP and AVIF included. |
| Starter | $4.99/month | 1 GB a month | For a single small site. |
| Pro | $9.99/month | 5 GB a month | For a busy blog or shop. |
| Business | $24.99/month | 20 GB a month | For several sites. |
| Agency | $59.99/month | 75 GB a month | For agencies managing client sites. |
Every plan includes WebP and AVIF, restore, the WordPress plugin and the API.
Questions people ask first.
Do I lose the original images?
No. The original of every image is kept, and restoring one is a single click in the Media Library.
Will my pages look different?
Compression keeps your image dimensions, so layouts stay the same. Each image is checked against the original for visual quality before the smaller file is used. If the smaller file would be larger, we keep the original.
How do WebP and AVIF reach visitors?
The plugin wraps images in a picture element with the optimized original as the fallback. A browser that understands WebP or AVIF picks it. Any other browser shows the original, so nothing breaks.
Where are my images processed?
On our servers. We keep the originals so you can restore them. Working copies are removed on a schedule, and you can delete your account data from your dashboard.
What happens when I reach my quota?
New images wait until the next month, or until you change plan. Images that are already compressed stay that way. You can see your usage at any time in the dashboard.
